NEWS + ANNOUNCEMENTS

FINAL PRESENTATION IS THIS TUESDAY, 1:15pm ! Be prepared to talk a little bit about your project, then show your film.

* * * JUST FOUND THESE: Really useful FinalCutPro FAQs: part 1, part 2, part 3. * * *

Beckett

Dog-like headless robot is much more disturbing than Beckett.

A good starting point for learning the craft of screenwriting: 100s of movie scripts at script-o-rama.

Two opportunities.

MACHINIMA/PHORION (and this does not need soundtrack, especially if you'd like to use the FAU Film Composers) DUE TODAY (Mar. 18).

REMEMBER - PARTICIPATION! New performance shoots:

  • Thursday, April 3rd, about 3pm to about 6pm
  • Thursday, April 10th, about 3pm to about 6pm

Anyone interested in having one of the FAU Film Composition students write music for your FINAL PROJECT,  your MACHINIMA/EDIT JAM, or your VIDEO JAM? Let me know - we have a couple of students pursuing this - a couple more would be great!

Your   FEEDBACK is available for the first three projects. Enter your z-number (CAPITAL Z plus 8 digits).

Check out AUDIO JAM 1.0, filled with the fine contributions by you and your colleagues! And, as a special added bonus feature, courtesy new-agey titles for all your textures!

(want to build your own audio mixer? You'll need Flash 8.0 or later, your own mp3 files, and this zip file. And yes, this works on either Windows or Mac.)

And remember, you can use your SPRING BREAK to:

  • Meet with your collaborator(s)
  • Scout locations
  • Shoot preliminary material
  • Do other research for your final project

PLAN, PLAN, PLAN. One resource we all have equally is TIME. Use yours well! (apologies for being so earnest!)

Here's an interesting free musical environment (splice), cross platform, web-based, a little limited, but fun.

News etc: REM open source videos,  and David Lynch on watching movies on your iPhone.

Video jam, audio jam should be well on the way to being done. You should be working on your FINAL PROJECT PITCH and your EDITING JAM (Machinima/Phorion).

NOTE - Lab hours and equipment check out between Thurs Feb 21 and  Mon Feb 25 - there is none, although HEC 611 is open normal hours (see below).

Here's the page where you can add your Experimental/Electronic information, links, etc. Please do this in the next couple of weeks or so - before Spring Break (week of March 3)

More on sound for you to review.

I enjoy the variety of changes you can make to your characters appearance. It allows you to do pretty much anything.

Just checking in on comments - leila, hopefully what you create with you character can be part of your portfolio or resume - certainly, it's an experience or skill you can include in the part where you talk about your software skills.

david - looking forward to the multiplicity of characters you've created!

i enjoy making shorts, but with the spread of the campus and other things it makes it hard to really make films for me.
